DAZN, the international over-the-top sports subscription service, has appointed Pablo Pinto as its executive producer for soccer in Spain as it gears up to broadcast domestic soccer’s top-tier LaLiga for the first time from next month (August).

In his new role, Pinto will carry out executive producer duties for the DAZN Spain soccer team and will also play a presenting role during DAZN’s LaLiga broadcasts starting with coverage on August 13.

Pinto joins from commercial broadcaster Mediaset Espana where he spent eight years as a broadcast journalist presenting various sports programs, including Deportes Cuatro and Informativos Telecinco, as well as major sporting events such as the UEFA Euros 2016, the FIFA 2018 World Cup, and most recently, the UEFA Euro 2020.

Before that, he worked for media companies Canal Plus and Antena 3.

In Spain, DAZN has rights to multiple top-tier soccer properties, including the English Premier League, the UEFA Women’s Champions League, as well as South America’s Libertadores and the Sudamericana cup competitions.

However, the streaming service pulled off a coup in December securing rights to Spain’s top-flight league in a five-year agreement along with telecoms giant Telefonica. Under the new deals, Telefonica’s pay-television operator Movistar will broadcast five matches per matchday plus three full matchdays, while DAZN will air five games per matchday.
