European soccer governing body UEFA has today (November 29) announced the Netherlands will host the 2023 finals for its Nations League men’s national teams competition.

The hosting decision, made by UEFA’s Executive Committee, will see the Netherlands contest the finals on home turf, with the team having qualified alongside Croatia, Italy, and Spain.

The final-four format knockout games will take place in the cities of Rotterdam and Enschede, as decided by the Royal Dutch Football Association.

They will kick off with the semi-finals on June 14 and 15, 2023, with the third-place playoff and the final to both follow on June 18, 2023.

The Netherlands was one of four countries to have submitted a declaration of interest in hosting the finals of the 2022-23 Nations League campaign alongside Wales, Belgium, and Poland.

It will become only the third country to stage the biennial finals after Italy in 2021 and Portugal for the inaugural edition in 2019.

The Netherlands team came runner-up in 2019, losing 1-0 to hosts Portugal in the final.

Italy also contested the finals as host in 2021, coming third.

The Executive Committee has also awarded hosting rights for the UEFA Women’s Futsal Euro 2023 to the Hungarian Football Federation, with the matches will take place at the Fönix Arena in Debrecen between March 16 and 19 next year.
