Apex Group, a global financial services provider based in the Bahamas, has signed up as title sponsor of next month’s test cricket series between the West Indies and England.

The group will put its name to the three-test series, which will take place between March 8 and 28 across Antigua, Barbados, and Grenada, as an extension and expansion of its existing partnership with the Cricket West Indies (CWI) governing body.

The group first partnered with CWI in October last year, becoming its official sustainability partner, and then put its brand on the front of the men’s national team’s shirts for the ICC T20 World Cup that same month in the United Arab Emirates.

Johnny Grave, chief executive of CWI, said: “With the West Indies versus England test rivalry dating back nearly one hundred years, this deeper partnership with Apex enables CWI to make cricket more sustainable as we move towards a second century of West Indies cricket.”

Peter Hughes, Apex’s founder and chief executive, added: “This is an important partnership for us, as we look forward to further leveraging the combined global platform Apex Group and the West Indies represent, to raise awareness for driving greater environmental sustainability in the sport …”

The group will, as part of its tie-up for the test series with CWI, “deliver its carbon footprint assessment and advisory services annually for CWI, with the ultimate target of supporting CWI to become carbon natural.”

The West Indies played a five-match T20 series against England in Barbados last week. Those games took place with the home team absent of a shirt sponsor, with Apex’s shirt-sponsorship deal for the T20 World Cup not extending to other matches.

During the World Cup, Apex replaced Sandals, the luxury resort firm based in the Caribbean, that was the team’s previous front-of-shirt sponsor until last October.

England’s front-of-shirt sponsor for the upcoming test series, meanwhile, will be online used car marketplace Cinch.
