GAC Pindar returning for The Ocean Race
GAC Pindar, the international logistics company, has today been reappointed as a sponsor of The Ocean Race, the famous round-the-world sailing event.
The firm will be the official logistics provider for the next edition of the race, which is scheduled for 2021-22.
It will be the third successive campaign for GAC Pindar, which will provide feasibility planning, transportation of Race Village infrastructure, broadcast and other support equipment to host cities, customs clearance, storage and relocation services for potential urgent spares, site management, on-the-ground staff and site materials handling equipment.
The company will also be on standby for the duration of the race to offer recovery logistics services, building on its experience providing urgent yacht and mast transport solutions to four teams across the 2014-15 and 2017-18 races.
GAC Pindar has strong links with sailing and sponsored a team which competed in various series, including the Extreme Sailing Series and the World Match Racing Tour.
Jeremy Troughton, general manager of GAC Pindar, said: “It is an honour to play an important part in this great event for an unprecedented third consecutive term. The Ocean Race never stops evolving and always raises the bar for us as a service provider. It empowers and tests us, both as a global team and as individuals, to deliver the best possible logistics solutions.”
Johan Salén, the managing director of The Ocean Race, added: “In GAC Pindar, we have a partner who has been tested in the last two editions of the Race and who has a proven track record for reliability of service. The global reach of the GAC Group and the high level of commitment to finding solutions, makes this an ideal partnership.”
The Ocean Race 2021-22 is due to start in Alicante in Spain in the northern hemisphere autumn and finish in Genoa in Italy the following summer.
