Telefónica extends naming rights deal for Liga Endesa's Estudiantes
Telefónica, the Spanish telecoms giant, has signed a four-year extension to its naming rights sponsorship of Spanish basketball team Movistar Estudiantes.
Under the deal, Telefónica, which has sponsored the Madrid-based team since 2013, will retain its naming rights until 2025 using its Movistar brand. It includes the men’s team, which plays in the top-tier Liga Endesa, the women’s team, which has just been promoted to Women’s League 1 for next season, and all youth teams.
The sponsorship extension includes the naming rights of the team’s stadium, the Magariños sports centre in Madrid, in a deal facilitated by the Community of Madrid, the City Council and the Superior Council of Sports.
Movistar Plus, Telefónica’s pay-television operator, has exclusive live rights to broadcast the Liga Endesa in Spain, in a deal with league organiser ACB. It also holds the rights in Spain to North America's NBA until the end of the 2019-20 season.
DAZN, the international over-the-top sports streaming service, holds the rights in Spain to the Basketball Champions League and rival competition Euroleague, Europe’s elite basketball competition.
