Pinaco sticks with AFF Suzuki Cup in Lagardère Sports renewal
Pinaco, the Vietnam-based battery manufacturer, has extended its deal as a sponsor of the AFF Suzuki Cup, the national teams soccer tournament in southeast Asia, for this year’s edition.
The deal was brokered by the Lagardère Sports agency, the exclusive commercial partner of the competition, which has an agreement to market the broadcast and sponsorship rights to the Asean Football Championship until 2024.
As an official sponsor in the car battery category, Pinaco, which will sponsor the tournament for the third successive year, will have a brand presence through perimeter advertising boards, event backdrops and digital channels of the tournament.
It will also feature in all media and promotional materials relating to the this year’s competition and will engage in fan activities and promotions around the matches.
Malcolm Thorpe, managing director, southeast Asia at Lagardère Sports, said: “Pinaco’s investment signals Vietnam’s continued emergence as an economic powerhouse and its rising sporting ambition. We are excited for the tournament to once again provide Pinaco with the opportunity to expand its reach across the region. We believe that the AFF Suzuki Cup 2020 will deliver exceptional value for Pinaco.”
In March, Suzuki, the Japanese car brand, once again signed up as the event’s title sponsor. It has put its name to the competition since 2008.
Last month, Next Media Solutions, the Asia-based media group, secured exclusive broadcast and distribution rights across Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and Myanmar for this year’s version of the biennial competition.
Vietnam are the defending champions of the AFF Suzuki Cup after beating Malaysia 3-2 in the final in 2018.
The 2020 AFF Cup will begin in November and lead up to the final in December.
