Saran acquires Club World Cup rights in Turkey
Saran Media, the Turkey-based agency, has snapped up exclusive broadcast rights in the country to the next two editions of soccer’s annual Fifa Club World Cup.
Under the agreement, Saran will provide live coverage of every match, plus highlights, from the next two tournaments, both of which will take place in Qatar.
This year’s edition begins on 11 December and involves European champions Liverpool of England, Brazil’s Flamengo, which won South America’s Copa Libertadores last weekend, Saudi Arabia's Al-Hilal, Tunisia's Esperance de Tunis, Monterrey from Mexico, Oceania champions Hienghene Sport from the Pacific island of New Caledonia, and Qatar’s Al-Sadd as hosts.
The final takes place at the new 40,000-capacity Education City Stadium on 21 December.
Yesterday, the BBC, the public-service broadcaster, and BeIN Sports, the international pay-television operator, acquired rights to the Club World Cup in the UK and the Middle East and North Africa respectively.
The Club World Cup is expanding to 24 teams and moving to China in 2021 under a Fifa revamp of the competition.
