Motorsport.TV and Greenlight team up on new King of the Roads series
Motorsport.tv, the OTT streaming platform of Motorsport Network, the USA-based digital media company, has hired Greenlight TV, the production and distribution firm, as its commercial and production partner for King of the Roads, the new motorcycling road racing series.
King of the Roads will rank the riders at the main race at each of the 10 road races being televised in 2019 - Tandragee 100, the Kells, Enniskillen, Armoy, Scarborough Gold Cup, the Isle of Man's Southern 100, North West 200, Ulster Grand Prix, Cookstown 100, and Macau Grand Prix.
Motorsport.tv will show the action on the same day, albeit not live.
UK-based Greenlight’s production crews have been filming the world’s fastest road races for over 25 years.
The company is also handling the distribution of international media rights, with deals in place in the UK (ITV), USA (CBS), Australia (Fox Sports) and New Zealand (Sky).
Rob Hurdman, Greenlight director Rob Hurdman, said: "We are thrilled to create a series with Motorsport TV that enables riders to compete for an overall prize fund, it also allows our international audience see and understand the progression the riders have made over the season."
Motorsport TV’s Olivier Dufour added: "We identified in road racing a unique opportunity to bring to the eyes of the world, via Motorsport.tv, for the first time ever on any screen, the thrill and bravery of those open roads competitions. And when our project materialised to choosing both a commercial and production partner, the obvious choice has been Greenlight whose name and expertise are indissociable from live motor racing."
