New Zealand lines up bid for 2027 Presidents Cup
New Zealand Golf, the sport's domestic governing body, is considering launching a bid to host the Presidents Cup, the biennial team contest between USA and an International side with players from the rest of the world, excluding Europe, in 2027.
NZ Golf is expected to make a final decision on whether to submit a bid next month to USA's PGA Tour, which runs the event, with the Auckland region considered the most likely location, according to reports in the country.
NZ Golf confirmed in a statement that it is interested in hosting major golf events in the future and is in the early stages of investigating a potential bid for the Presidents Cup.
This year's event is slated for Melbourne, Australia in December, with North Carolina in USA to play host in 2021.
The 2023 host, outside of USA, has yet to be announced, but the 2025 edition will take place in San Francisco.
