Toyota and Limelight on board for return of 'I Am Team GB'
Toyota, the Japanese car maker, has signed up as the title partner of 'I Am Team GB', the annual weekend of mass-participation sport and physical activity events organised by the British Olympic Association.
The company, which is a sponsor of the BOA and a TOP sponsor of the International Olympic Committee, has pledged its support for I Am Team GB – The Nation’s Biggest Sports Day, in both 2019 and 2020.
The festival will take place on the late-August bank holiday weekend in the UK and feature events across the country, as part of efforts to use the success of the British Olympic team to drive participation in sport.
I Am Team GB was launched three years ago to take advantage of the achievements of the country's athletes at the London 2012 and Rio 2016 Olympic Games, and encourage the public to engage in sport and physical activity.
Limelight Sports, the UK-based mass participation sports agency, has been appointed to run the operational part of the I Am Team GB campaign, while Laura Kenny (pictured), the winner of four Olympic gold medals in track cycling, is the lead ambassador, and she and other British stars will be present at many of the events.
The weekend will also celebrate the role of volunteers in the community with Team GB and Toyota celebrating their work by designating them I Am Team GB Games Makers, in honour of those who volunteered at London 2012, and encouraging others to organise their own events at www.IAmTeamGB.com.
BOA commercial director Tim Ellerton said: “We’re proud to relaunch I Am Team GB alongside Toyota and feel that together we can create an impactful and more importantly fun opportunity for local communities to come together, get moving and enjoy the bank holiday weekend.”
