Valspar in long-term sponsorship renewal with PGA Tour
Valspar, the paint and coatings company, today announced a new five-year deal to remain as a sponsor of US golf's PGA Tour and as title sponsor of the Valspar Championship in Tampa Bay, Florida.
The new contract runs to 2025, and continues Valspar's role as the official paint supplier of the PGA Tour.
The championship at the Copperhead Course at Innisbrook joined the PGA Tour in 2000. Its previous title sponsors have been Chrysler, PODS and Transitions Optical, with Valspar coming on board in 2014.
For the present three-year deal, which expires next year, Valspar sponsored the caddie hat programme, with around 160 caddies wearing Valspar-branded headwear during PGA Tour tournaments each year.
That will continue until 2025.
Brian Oliver, PGA Tour executive vice-president of corporate partnerships, said: “Valspar truly has had a positive impact on the tournament’s success and growth and its team has fully embraced the role of title sponsor by effectively engaging fans, interacting with business partners and using the tournament to showcase its products. Additionally, they’ve expanded their involvement on the PGA Tour beyond the tournament with the Valspar Caddie Hat Program, which furthers Valspar’s brand presence throughout the season.”
Aaron Erter, president, Performance Coatings Group at the Sherwin-Williams Company, Valspar's parent, added: “This tournament has exceeded our expectations in strengthening our customer and vendor relationships, elevating our brand, and, most importantly, investing in the community in a meaningful way.”
The 2019 Valspar Championship gets under way tomorrow.
