IHF begins search for first chief marketing officer
The International Handball Federation, the sport's governing body, is recruiting for its first chief marketing officer, as it bids to ramp up its commercial activity.
An advert and job spec have been placed on the federation's website, detailing key duties and skills required. The role advertised is based at the IHF's Basel, Switzerland headquarters.
The chief marketing officer will be tasked with establishing future IHF marketing policy, attracting new sponsors to the federation and maintaining relationships with existing partners, which include Molten, Gerflor, Hummel and Grundfos.
The IHF said it is seeking an individual with at least 10 years' experience in a marketing role within a global organisation, and preferably have an affinity with handball.
The deadline for applications is 26 March.
The chief marketing officer's focus will be on landing new sponsors, as the worldwide media rights to the IHF Men’s and Women’s World Championships are distributed by the Lagardère Sports agency in a new deal that runs 2025.
MP & Silva had previously held the rights, but the long-term contract between the two was ripped up after MP & Silva entered severe financial difficulties.
