Indian Polo Association and Pro Sportify to launch new league
The Indian Polo Association has teamed up with Pro Sportify Ventures, the India-based content management and media rights consultancy behind the country’s Pro Wrestling League, to launch the Indian Arena Polo League.
Starting in September, the franchise-based league will feature six teams competing in a short-format version of the game, involving both Indian and international players.
Kartikeya Sharma, founder and promoter, Pro Sportify Ventures, said: “Polo in India has been synonymous with royalty, patrons of polo across the globe will now have a chance to own polo teams in the India Polo League and be a part of a new emerging sports and lifestyle business.”
An initiative of ProSportify and the Wrestling Federation of India, Pro Wrestling League was established in 2015, with the fourth season this year set to comprise six competing teams: Delhi Sultans; UP Dangal; Haryana Hammers; MP Yodha; Mumbai Maharathi; and NCR Punjab Royals.
Wrestlers from 15 countries in Asia, Europe, Africa and the Americans are due to take part.
