Credit Suisse backs Laver Cup to 2023
Credit Suisse, the financial services company, has signed up as a global sponsor of the Laver Cup, the international men’s tennis team competition, in a five-year deal.
Credit Suisse joins Mercedes, the German car manufacturer, as a global sponsor, a level below founding partner Rolex, the luxury Swiss watch brand.
The sponsorship deal will begin with the 2019 tournament in Geneva, Switzerland from 20 to 22 September.
The deal was signed with Team8, the management agency of Swiss star Roger Federer, which owns the tournament.
Tony Godsick, chairman and chief executive of Team8, said: “The event has been embraced by fans worldwide since it began two years ago. It’s the perfect time for Credit Suisse to join us as we bring the Laver Cup to the heart of Europe.”
Tidjane Thiam, chief executive of Credit Suisse Group, added: "We have always distinguished ourselves by supporting innovative, high-impact initiatives. It was therefore a logical decision for us to support the Laver Cup.”
The first two editions of the Laver Cup took place in Prague, Czech Republic in 2017 and Chicago, USA this September.
