Mikasa prolongs FIVB ties as Chinese league gets new sponsor
Mikasa Corporation, the Japanese sports equipment manufacturer, has extended its sponsorship of the FIVB, the international volleyball federation, by four years.
The new deal, which was announced at the FIVB World Congress in Cancun, Mexico, runs through to the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris when Mikasa will be the official ball provider for the indoor and beach volleyball events.
The relationship between the company and the FIVB dates back to volleyball's first appearance in the Olympics, in Tokyo in 1964, and the two organisations are looking forward to further collaboration as the games return to the Japanese capital in 2020.
Meanwhile, the Chinese Volleyball Super League, the top league in the country, is reported to have signed up Qian Da Zhang Gui, the online financial management platform of China’s Industrial Bank, as an official partner.
The Chinese Volleyball Super League changed its name from the Chinese Volleyball League last year when it became fully professional.
The deal represents the league’s first with a bank.
