Serbia eyes 2025 handball World Championships
The RSS, the Serbian handball federation, has submitted bids to host both the men's and women's IHF World Championships in 2025.
Serbia is competing against South Korea to stage the showpiece women's event, but the competition is more fierce for the men's tournament, with Balkans neighbours Croatia and a three-way application from Denmark, Norway and Switzerland also in the mix.
The International Handball Federation will select the two hosts at its next council meeting in Herning, Denmark in January during the 2019 Men's World Championships, which Denmark will be co-hosting with Germany.
The 2023 Women's World Championships in Denmark, Norway and Sweden will be the first time the event is held across three countries.
The next two women's tournaments will be staged in Japan (2019) and Spain (2021).
After Denmark-Germany in 2019, the next two editions of the Men’s World Championship will take place in Egypt (2021) and Poland-Sweden (2023).
