IMG College extends rights and licensing deal with UNC Greensboro
The University of North Carolina at Greensboro has announced an extension of its multimedia rights and licensing agreements with IMG College, the college sports arm of the international sports and entertainment agency, until the end of 2028.
Under the agreement, which began in 2008, IMG will continue to provide exclusive representation of the corporate partner programme and commercial business for UNC Greensboro Spartan Athletics, including broadcast offerings, sponsorships, hospitality, coaches’ endorsements and in-venue signage.
It will also continue to manage the university’s trademark licensing programme, after licensing royalties increased by 42 per cent since 2009, with a record year of royalties during the 2017-18 fiscal year.
Tim Pernetti, president, IMG College, said: “Together we have built a strong foundation with our partners at UNC Greensboro and we are thrilled to continue our relationship for another 10 years. We will continue to provide unique solutions focused on delivering great opportunities for UNCG’s student-athletes, fans, and supporters.”
IMG College has marketing deals with around 90 US universities and college sports conferences.
In June, U Sports, the body representing sports in Canadian universities, signed up IMG College to develop a national marketing strategy aimed at bringing in millions of dollars from the Canadian corporate sector.
