Perform's DAZN to open development centre in Amsterdam
DAZN, the digital sports streaming service of Perform Group, is to open a new development centre in Amsterdam, creating jobs for 300 people by 2022 including software engineers, development managers and scrum masters.
Florian Diederichsen, DAZN’s chief technology officer, said: “We are already live in seven countries across three continents and have software developers creating a market-leading product in the UK, Poland and now the Netherlands.
“The new development centre is an important milestone in DAZN’s journey to become the world’s biggest sports broadcaster, with the best sports streaming product in the market.”
Ben Lavender, DAZN’s chief product officer, added: “The global sports industry is ripe for disruption and DAZN is leading the change. The ability to hire world-class software engineers, development managers and scrum masters at a speed that can match the pace of our growth is essential to our business. We looked at several global locations, but nothing came close to Amsterdam for its infrastructure and the ability to attract the best global tech talent.”
Earlier this month, DAZN said that its coverage of Italian soccer's Serie A in the country is improving all the time, after teething problems affected the first few weeks of the new season.
DAZN is streaming three matches per weekend, on Saturdays at 8.30pm and on Sundays at 12.30pm and 3pm.
Last month, DAZN announced a rash of new acquisitions in Italy, headlined by exclusive live rights to soccer’s LaLiga and Ligue 1, which will form part of more than 1,500 hours per year of live, premium content.
DAZN is already available, and has rights to premium sport, in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Canada and Japan, and is launching in USA this month.
