Stanley in 'historic' sponsorship of Barcelona women's team
Stanley Black & Decker, the tools manufacturer, has been named as the first dedicated shirt sponsor of the women’s team of Spanish soccer giants FC Barcelona.
FCB Femeni will wear kit featuring the company’s logo from the start of the 2018-19 season.
The tie-up represents an expansion of Stanley’s partnership with Barcelona, which started in 2014-15, when the firm became a global partner of the men’s team, and widened to include an official partnership with the women’s team for the 2017-18 campaign.
The new deal was announced in Los Angeles on Friday, on the eve of FCB Femeni’s preseason match against local team SoCal FC, and was hailed by Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu as "historic" and one that "will benefit women's sports worldwide."
FCB Femeni have been without a shirt sponsor since Qatar Airways’ overarching deal for all Barcelona teams expired last year.
Rakuten, the Japanese e-commerce company, took over as the shirt sponsor of the men’s team in a four-year deal worth €220 million ($258 million).
