Quarter of world watched as PyeongChang boasts balanced budget

The games were also a success by other measures, according to Christophe Dubi, the IOC’s Olympic Games executive director, who said: “PyeongChang delivered what it said it would deliver. It said it would open new horizons, and that’s exactly what it has done. It’s a new destination, and the region is now fully-equipped with sports venues, along with infrastructure such as hotels and restaurants. This is what the games have brought to this region.”
• The dates for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games have been moved by a week to 26 July to 11 August, 2024. Dubi said that the new dates “remain within holiday confines,” but added that moving the dates meant that “we were able to reduce the total number of Paralympic venues by one, which will facilitate operations for the entire [Olympic/Paralympic] family.”
The IOC has also approved the stadiums for the soccer tournaments at the 2020 Olympics, meaning that all the venues for the games have now been confirmed.
Men's and women's soccer matches will be played at the Olympic Stadium in Tokyo, the Tokyo Stadium, the Sapporo Dome, the Miyagi Stadium, the Ibaraki Kashima Stadium, the Saitama Stadium and the International Stadium Yokohama.
The Tokyo Olympics will use a total of 43 venues, including 25 existing, 10 temporay and eight new permanent venues.
