Germany's Sport1 to offer live Brazilian league matches
Sport1, the German sports broadcaster, is stepping up its coverage of South American soccer after agreeing a deal to show live matches from Brazil’s top-tier Campeonato Brasileiro in 2018.
Under a tie-up with Sportradar, the international digital content and data company responsible for distributing Brazilian league rights in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, a weekly top match will be aired on Saturday nights on pay-television channel Sport1+, which is availble in all three markets.
The live coverage begins at the start of the season, on 15 April, and will be complemented by highlights of other matches.
Ex-Bundesliga stars now playing in the top Brazilian league include Carlos Eduardo (formerly of Hoffenheim) at newly-promoted Parana and Juan (ex-Bayer Leverkusen) and Peruvian Paolo Guerrero (formerly of Bayern Munich and Hamburg), both at Flamengo.
Sport1+ already offers live games from the Copa Libertadores and Copa Sudamerica, the top clubs competitions in South America, and Argentina’s top-tier Superliga.
