Manchester United launch YouTube channel
Manchester United, of English soccer’s top-tier Premier League, have launched a channel on YouTube, the Google-owned video platform, 13 years after the website first went live.
The channel, which already has 22,000 subscribers, will offer behind-the-scenes clips, “stylised match footage”, videos of ex-players and highlights from classics matches.
The page can be accessed at YouTube.com/ManUtd
Manchester United have consistently been among the last major European soccer clubs to launch on social media networks.
In 2013, the club launched its English-language account on Twitter, seven years after the platform was founded.
The team has had a Facebook page since 2010.
United’s rivals Manchester City have a dominant presence on YouTube and last year they became the first English soccer club to reach 1 million subscribers on the platform.
The Premier League is still without its own YouTube channel.
