Beko set to build on bond with Barcelona
Beko, the Turkish domestic appliance manufacturer, is set to extend and expand its sponsorship deal with Spanish soccer giants FC Barcelona, it has been reported.
Subject to confirmation next month, Beko will pay €57 million ($71 million) over three years for a continued association with the Catalan club, according to Spanish sports newspaper Mundo Deportivo.
It is understood that the Beko logo will remain on the sleeves of the team’s playing shirts, and that branding will also appear on the training kit and at Barcelona’s La Masia academy.
Beko has been Barcelona’s sleeve sponsor since the start of the 2014-15 season, and the training kit opportunity became available when the club parted company with its previous main shirt sponsor Qatar Airways prior to the start of this campaign.
Beko is the club’s third most important sponsor behind kit provider Nike and new shirt sponsor Rakuten, the Japanese e-commerce company, which is paying €55 million a year for the honour.
Barcelona were third in the Deloitte Football Money League for the 2016-17 season, published this week, with turnover of €648.3 million, an increase of 4.5 per cent on the previous year.
Commercial revenue, including sponsorship, rose by 46 per cent to €296.2 million.
