Nine associations express interest in hosting 2020 Uefa Super Cup
Nine European soccer associations have expressed interest in hosting the Uefa Super Cup, the annual clash between the champions of the Uefa Champions League and the second-tier Uefa Europa League, in 2020, the continental governing body for the sport has announced.
The bid process was launched on 8 December last year, with a deadline of 12 January and excluded countries which are already involved in hosting matches of the Euro 2020 European Championships, which is being played at venues across Europe in that year.
The nine associations that have expressed interest in hosting the Uefa Super Cup in 2020 are:
|Finland||Helsinki||Helsinki Olympic Stadium|
|France||Nice||Grand Stade de Nice|
|Kazakhstan||Almaty||Almaty Central Stadium|
|Northern Ireland||Belfast||National Football Stadium at Windsor Park|
Uefa said: “The declaration of interest made by the bidders is not binding and the final proposal must be delivered with the bid dossier by 29 March 2018 at the latest.”
Uefa’s executive committee will select the host association in May.
