Eleven Sports seals expanded NBA rights deal in Taiwan
Eleven Sports, the international pay-television broadcaster, will show coverage of North American basketball’s NBA across all of its platforms in Taiwan after it struck an expanded rights deal.
Under the new five-year deal, Eleven Sports is to show coverage of the NBA across its cable television channel and on its over-the-top streaming platform.
Eleven’s initial one-season deal with the NBA kicked in last year and only included digital rights to air the league on its OTT service.
The expanded rights package includes three live games per week from the NBA regular season and coverage of the play-offs, All-Star game, Conference Finals and NBA Finals.
Eleven will also air the NBA Draft, NBA Awards and the NBA Summer League.
In June, Eleven picked up rights in Taiwan to national team basketball events in a five-year deal with FIBA, basketball’s international governing body.
That agreement covers the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 (and its qualifying matches), the FIBA Asia Cup in 2017 and 2021 (plus its qualifiers), the FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup 2018, plus the 2017, 2019 and 2021 editions of the FIBA Women's Asia Cup and the FIBA U17 and U19 Basketball World Cups (both the men and women’s editions).
