Content specialist Roach swaps Olympic Channel for F1
Stuart Roach has relinquished the role of director of digital content at the Olympic Channel, the multi-platform channel of the International Olympic Committee, to become head of digital content at Formula 1.
Roach, a former broadcasting journalist and producer for the BBC, the UK's public-service network, had been at the Olympic Channel for nearly three years, overseeing digital, social media and content strategies at the operation’s headquarters in Madrid.
The channel launched at the end of last year’s Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro as a new outlet for coverage of top events in Olympic sports.
Roach will lead editorial and content operations at Formula 1 as it embraces the previously neglected digital sphere, with plans for a new over-the-top streaming service that will complement existing television coverage of the sport from next year.
Other arrivals have included Frank Arthofer, formerly of Disney and Boston Consulting Group, as global head of digital and new business in May of this year.
Roach was a senior digital producer for BT Sport, the UK pay-TV broadcaster, before joining the Olympic Channel in April 2015.
