Allianz powers up with long-term extension of Formula E deal
Allianz, the German insurance company, has extended its sponsorship of the Formula E Championship, the international electric car motor racing series, in a five-year deal.
The agreement, which was announced at the New York ePrix at the weekend, represents a considerable show of faith in the series, which is coming to the end of its third season.
Allianz came on board ahead of the Mexico City ePrix in February, signing up as an official partner of the series and the naming rights partner of the fan zone, known as the Allianz eVillage.
The Allianz eVillage gives motorsport fans access to interactive experiences in which they can sample the latest cutting-edge technology and innovations.
The ‘Explorer Zone’ offers an insight into new consumer technology with gadgets and devices in areas such as 3D printing, drones and virtual reality.
Alejandro Agag, the founder and chief executive of Formula E, said: “It’s fantastic news to confirm that Allianz has extended their partnership with Formula E. Just as road car manufacturers and statutory bodies are shifting focus to clean mobility and electrification - so are world-leading companies like Allianz, which they’ve shown with their long-term commitment to Formula E. I look forward to seeing the partnership expand and bringing exciting and innovative new opportunities to fans of Formula E all over the world.”
Jean-Marc Pailhol, head of group market management and distribution at Allianz SE, added: “We are proud to partner with Formula E, the pioneering electric racing series. We look forward to exploring new territories and to driving the future of mobility together. The support of clean technologies also reflects the long-term sustainability agenda of Allianz. With the Allianz Explorer Zone, we are showcasing our pursuit of innovation and cutting-edge technologies which we plan to expand for the next season.”
