PGA Tour 'opens office in London'
US golf’s PGA Tour is reported to have opened an office in London to drive business for the top international series.
The development is not expected to be announced until mid-summer, but the office is already operational, according to the UK’s Guardian newspaper.
It is thought that the priorities of the UK-based team will be new international media rights deals and sponsors.
The PGA Tour has yet to confirm the report.
The tour already has overseas offices in Beijing and Tokyo, but a London office will be seen as a significant move on to the patch of the European Tour, which is based at Wentworth in south-east England.
Last week, FedEx, the international logistics company which gives its name to the season-long points race and playoffs, extended its sponsorship of the PGA Tour in a multi-year deal.
