DSport adds Tie Break Tens to rights portfolio
DSport, the new television channel launched in India by Discovery Communications, the international media group, is to air this year’s Tie Break Tens, the quick-fire tie-break tennis format that will take place in Madrid tomorrow.
The coverage will be produced by Sunset+Vine, the UK-based television production firm and media company, which has a three-year host broadcast production agreement for the series. Sunset+Vine is producing the world feed, as well as delivering all feature-led digital content.
Discovery’s entry into the Indian market was revealed in February and DSport, which has been branded in a similar way to Eurosport, is available in 35 million households and plans to show 4,000 hours of live content a year.
The channel has acquired live rights to Brazilian soccer’s top-tier Campeonato Brasileiro, the Chinese Super League, Portugal’s Primeira Liga and North America’s Major League Soccer.
Those rights have been complemented by US Nascar motor racing, cycling, three of golf’s four 'majors', women’s golf’s LPGA Tour, European rugby union’s Six Nations and exclusive live coverage of daily live horse racing from the UK and Ireland.
The women's tournament will include Britain's Jo Konta, the current world number seven, along with the returning Maria Sharapova, French Open champion Garbine Muguruza and world number five Simona Halep of Romania. The men's competition will include the likes of Switzerland's Stan Wawrinka, Japan's Kei Nishikori and Bulgaria's Grigor Dimitrov, along with Spanish trio of David Ferrer, Fernando Verdasco and Feliciano Lopez.
