India to host squash’s World Junior Championships in 2018

Squash - 20 Feb 2017
Author: Florence Lloyd-Hughes

India is to host squash’s World Junior Championships in 2018, the World Squash Federation announced today.

The Indian Squash Academy in Chennai, will stage the men’s and women’s World Junior Individual Championships, from 18 to 23 July, followed by the men’s World Junior Team Championship between 24 and 29 July.

It will mark the third time that India has hosted the World Junior Squash Championships, having staged the event in Chennai in 2002 and 2009.

Jacques Fontaine, who replaced India’s N Ramachandran as president of WSF in November, said: “There have been World and Asian Championships regularly staged in Chennai – the Indian Federation provide excellent facilities as well as being great hosts. Taking this important WSF Championship to India will open another chapter that we look forward to.”
