THE WALL STREET JOURNAL ON BOARD FOR CLIPPER ROUND THE WORLD YACHT RACE

Clipper Ventures plc announced today its partnership with The Wall Street Journal for the 2002 and 2005 Clipper Round the World Yacht Races.

The Clipper Round the World Race is an esteemed circumnavigation for amateur sailors, racing aboard identical ocean-racing yachts, each sponsored by an international city, over 11 months and some 35,000 miles of challengingseas.

In addition, The Asian Wall Street Journal, the leading publisher of Asia's vital business and financial news, will join as an Official Media Partner.

Hong Kong's 60-foot racing yacht, one of eight Clippers competing in the> 2002 race, will be sponsored The Wall Street Journal. The sponsorship offers unique networking, branding and hospitality opportunities.

When competing in waters around Asia, it will fly the flag of The Asian Wall Street Journal. While sailing in Europe or the US, the Clipper will fly the flag of The Wall Street Journal Europe or The Wall Street Journal respectively.

Phil Revzin, Vice President, International, The Wall Street Journal said,> 'The global Wall Street Journal spans continents and crosses oceans. Yet,> like the crews of the Clipper 2002 Race, it is built upon a simple concept - that of individuals working together, to produce their best, as a team.'

Clipper 2002 will set sail from Liverpool, United Kingdom, on 27 October 2002 and will be contested by teams from Hong Kong, London, Liverpool, New York, Bristol, Jersey, Glasgow and Cape Town.

Sir Robin Knox-Johnston, record breaking sailor and chairman of Clipper Ventures, added: 'The new theme of the race, pitting cities and nations against each other, gives the race new global appeal. We are delighted therefore with this alliance and through our partnership we aim to launch the Clipper races into a new international dimension and greatly increase our global following of race supporters.'
