US Ski and Snowboard Association Signs New Sponsorship Deal
Ernst & Young LLP has entered into a three year sponsorship agreement with the United States Ski and Snowboard Association (USSA) as the Official Professional Services Firm, with category exclusivity in assurance, corporate finance, e-business advisor and tax through the 2002-2003 season, it was announced today.
While financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed, Ernst &Young will have category exclusivity and usage rights of all USSA logos and marks, including the U.S. Ski Team and U.S. Snowboard Team, access to USSA athletes, hospitality at World Cup events each season, as well as numerous other entitlements and sponsor benefits.
Ernst & Young will serve as title sponsor for both the men's downhill and super G World Cup events at Beaver Creek, Colorado on December 2-3, 2000, and as exclusive title sponsor of the Ernst & Young Corporate Challenge, held in conjunction with these World Cup events. As part of the agreement, Ernst & Young will also receive a broad range of broadcast and print advertisement commitments from the USSA for the 2000-2001 season and throughout the term of the contract.
This season, that will include numerous :30 second units in six network broadcasts (CBS & NBC), multiple units on each of 8 USSA ESPN broadcasts, broadcast enhancements and features during World Cup events on NBC and ESPN , as well as numerous on-air billboards.
'This is a wonderful opportunity for us to not only help young athletes reach for gold but to develop an integrated marketing program for Ernst & Young that reaches potential recruits and target CFOs who are defining the rules of the new economy,' said Jim Speros, national director of external communications at Ernst & Young.
'We believe our shared attributes of speed, teaming, agility and innovation make us well suited to partner with USSA and the premier winter sports from both a participation and competition point of view.'
'We are happy to add Ernst & Young to the ranks of distinguished sponsors of USSA,' said Todd Burnette, vice president of marketing and sales for USSA. 'It's especially exciting to have Ernst and Young as a partner in the men's downhill in Beaver Creek where our downhill skiers led by double World Cup winner Daron Rahlves and local hero Chad Fleischer will have an opportunity to showcase their talents in front of a hometown crowd and an international television audience.
Ernst &Young is an outstanding multinational firm and a perfect partner for our athletic programs.'
