The National Bank Donates $100,000 to NZC Tsunami Relief Fund
The fund has been launched to distribute all fundraising proceeds from The National Bank Series against the FICA World XI.
All proceeds from the New Zealand Cricket Tsunami Relief Fund will be directed to NZC’s fundraising partner World Vision and "Cricket Aid", a Sri Lanka Cricket initiative to provide emergency relief and then longer-term housing for Sri Lankan families and orphans.
"The establishment of the fund and the immediate support for it from The National Bank gives New Zealand Cricket tremendous confidence that our fundraising events around the series between the BLACKCAPS and the FICA World XI are going to be successful," NZC Chief Executive Martin Snedden said.
"We are delighted that The National Bank has contributed so generously to the fund,” he said.
“It’s great to work with New Zealand Cricket on this,” said Cynthia Brophy, General Manager Corporate Affairs. “The Bank’s involvement in this project is in addition to the $120,000 that ANZ and The National Bank have donated to be divided among Red Cross, Oxfam and World Vision.”
NZC is also working on fundraising opportunities with its other commercial partners.
