Super League Clubs Agree to Amend Fixture List Method
At a meeting of Tetley’s Rugby Super League clubs staged in London earlier this week, it was agreed that the method used to compile the fixture list for the 2005 Super League season, would be amended.
The current system, which uses finishing positions within the top or bottom section of the competition table to determine fixtures (other than the 22 home and away games between each club), will be replaced by the following method:
The Regular season will consist of 28 Rounds.
Clubs finishing in even numbered positions in the competition table will play games (other than their 22 home and away) against clubs finishing in odd numbered positions.
Precise details of this will be confirmed once further development work has been carried out by the Super League Executive.
The new system means, in principle, it is beneficial for clubs to finish as high as possible in the competition table.
Further details will be released in due course.
