Sportsetail Secures Badminton Merchandising Deal
Sportsetail, the merchandising business owned by Hay & Robertson and BSkyB, has reached an exclusive agreement with the International Badminton Federation (IBF) to supply and distribute official IBF licensed goods.
For an initial 4-year term, with a further 4-year option ending in 2009, Sportsetail has been granted an exclusive right to sell IBF branded goods through an e-shop, a direct mail catalogue, free-standing retail units, event stands and interactive television.
Sportsetail will design, develop, source and market badminton and leisure apparel bearing the official logos of the IBF and its major events. A new e-commerce site will be launched in April 2002 ahead of the Thomas and Uber Cup Finals (men's and women's world team championships) in China.

'It is important for us to have a forward-thinking e-commerce specialist like Sportsetail on board as badminton expands rapidly worldwide in nearly 150 IBF member nations.'

Badminton became a full Olympic sport at the Barcelona Games in 1992. With a global playing population of over 200 million it is a major participant sport worldwide and is particularly important in key Asia-Pacific markets such as China, Korea, Japan, Indonesia and Malaysia.
