Sports Industry Executive Training: Last Few Places for World Academy of Sport Six-day Programme

15 May 2006

A practical approach that enables your team to work with our experts on a current project.

With only two weeks to go until the World Academy of Sport Intensive Executive Administration 6-day programme, running from Tuesday 30th May until Sunday 4th June and based on the ‘Manchester Method’, there are only a few places remaining.  Prior to attendance, participants will submit a current project for development during the 6 days.  This project may be in any area depending on the level of involvement that the organisation has had within the sport and major events industry. Project areas could be:

· Developing a strategy for broadcasting and new media
· Developing a strategy for providing services to the sport industry
· Developing a strategy for bidding for Major Events
· Developing a strategy for Legacy
· Developing a strategy for Volunteer management

There will be opportunities to work through the project with the input and guidance of 6 world-leading sport industry experts:

· Francois Carrard – Senior Partner, Etude des avocats Carrard, Paschoud, Heim & Associes
· Craig McLatchey – Chief Executive, Event Knowledge Services
· Richard Bunn – Managing Director, rbi network
· Patrick Nally – Founder, WestNally
· Alison Odell – Director, Sport, The University of Manchester
· Chrisophe Dubi – Olympic Games – Deputy Executive Director International Olympic Committee

and a selection of Manchester Business School academics. By the end of the week each individual will have continued in their personal development and will have an outline plan for the implementation of their project in their organisation.

Each participant will leave at the end of the week with a clear understanding of the following:

· Bidding for major events
· Sponsorship of major events or procurement of sponsorship
· Broadcasting and New Media
· Supplying to the Sport and Major Event industry
· Sport and Athlete Programme Development
· Management of Major events or Facilities
· Legacy planning

The experts who will guide the development of the necessary skills are the same people who have pioneered and continue to succeed in this unique and highly competitive industry.  An individual action plan will also be explored to allow participants to effectively implement learning outcomes.

Each participant will develop invaluable contacts and advance their capability to succeed in the Sport and Major Events industry.
