Smart Cities & Sport Summit 2015 announces session on Agenda 2020 facilitated by the International Olympic Committee
Lausanne, Switzerland – August 13, 2015 – The “Smart Cities & Sport Summit”, the unique conference organised by the World Union of Olympic Cites, is pleased to announce an additional session on the Olympic Agenda 2020 in collaboration with the International Olympic Committee.
The session, which will take place on Wednesday afternoon, will focus on the recommendations of Agenda 2020 with a special focus on the reshaping of the Olympic bidding process. Speakers from the International Olympic Committee will include Christophe De Kepper, Director General, and Jacqueline Barrett, Associate Director, Olympic Bids.
The Olympic Agenda 2020 is the strategic roadmap for the future of the Olympic Movement. Among its 40 recommendations, a number aim at making bidding for the Olympic Games more attractive and less costly. Meeting the long-term planning needs of candidate cities and placing a stronger focus on sustainability and legacy considerations feature among some of the key measures already taken.
With the “Smart Cities & Sport Summit”, the World Union of Olympic Cities aims to reach out to cities of all sizes from around world to share experience and best practices.
