Six countries have already bid for organisation of the 2003 Rhythmic Gymnastics World Championships; the countries include Spain, France, Japan, Germany, Hungary and Russia.
The event had been previously attributed to the City of Maastricht (NED) in 1999, yet financial difficulties caused the Dutch federation to relinquish its candidacy, officially pulling out in February.
It is important to mention that the 2003 World Championships will be qualifying for the 2004 Athens Olympic Games for both individual gymnasts and groups.
The FIG Council (44 members) will make its selection from among the five candidates in contention.
Decision May 11 in Tokyo.
