Rugby League's Australian Test Venues Switched
The Rugby Football League has been forced to switch the first and second Test match venues for November’s showdown with reigning World Champions Australia.
Originally the first Test was scheduled for Bolton’s Reebok Stadium on Saturday, November 3 and the second at Huddersfield’s McAlpine Stadium on Saturday, November 17. Now, the venues have been switched so that the McAlpine Stadium will host the first Test and Reebok Stadium the second.
Bolton Wanderers are being forced to play at home on November 3 because of a Greater Manchester Police operation and that means that the Reebok Stadium is no longer available to the RFL.
RFL Director of Communications Dave Callaghan said: 'Because of the Police operation and other potential soccer fixture complications that were not made clear to us until late this week, we have taken the decision to switch the venues.
'Sharing stadiums with other sports often brings unexpected complications and Rugby League has certainly suffered from that situation in the last few weeks.
'But we believe that by taking an early decision we will be able to minimise the impact on Rugby League supporters. '
The Rugby Football League has offered fans a special deal on tickets for the Test series, which means that if they buy tickets for the first two Tests then they will be able to take in the third Test at JJB Stadium, Wigan on Saturday, November 24 absolutely FREE.
