RFL's Lewis Backs Candidate in French Rugby League Federation Election

Rugby league - 14 Jul 2004

Richard Lewis, Executive Chairman of the Rugby Football League, and Vice Chairman of both the Rugby League European Federation and the Rugby League International Federation, is offering support to Nicholas Larrat who is a candidate in the forthcoming elections for the Presidency of the French Rugby League Federation.

Lewis said: 'I believe that Nicholas Larrat is a person who could bring the whole of French Rugby League together from grass roots upwards and take the sport forward in a positive manner.

'He is a forward thinking administrator who has proved to be a keen internationalist and thus is somebody we at the RFL and other members of both Federations could work well with in the future'.

Lewis added: 'Monsieur Larrat recently played a positive role in the resurgence of the French national Rugby League team which reached the final of the inaugural European Nations Cup tournament and we hope he is successful in gaining election as President'.

The election takes place this weekend on Saturday 17th July 2004.
