To mark the new Millennium the International Ice Hockey Federation IIHF and its long-term marketing partner CWL will launch together with SPORT 1 a new service. At www.ihwc.net journalists and the public can follow the IIHF World Championship via Internet from the very beginning on 29th April 2000 - all statistics, much more than on TV or in the newspapers - reports, interviews, background - short clips of the most exciting moments.
More than 20 journalists will cover in more than 1000 pages the tournament with game preview reports, game action reports and interviews with the stars after the game. The page will be fully illustrated with photographs from the tournament. Interactive games and competitions will also be included, and highlights with video feed of important goals will be made available in the pages. In addition a webcam and 360¦ animations from the new arena in St. Petersburg will bring the exiting moments to the users. FoGData AB, the official IIHF championship statistical partner, will provide an extensive package of game results and individual and team statistics.
Sport1 is the leading Internet service company in sports in Germany and will provide and implement this project with its technical and editorial skill.
The new project is a perfect supplement to the traditional TV-transmissions and the coverage by the print media. Ice Hockey is brought to the public in a totally new dimension -a quantum jump for the IIHF World Championship.
