Odense, Denmark, Gets Back onto the Trampoline in 2011

In 2011 Odense will once again play host to an international gymnastics event, when the Trampoline and Tumbling Gymnastics World Cup Final kicks off.
The World Cup Final 2011 will be a fantastic opportunity, for the Danish trampoline jumpers and tumblers, to showcase the sport and promote the Danish profiles and talents. The World Cup will take place on the 6th to 8th October 2011 and will be the 8th and final World Cup in 2011. The organisers behind the bid; Danish Gymnastics Federation, Sport Event Denmark, Sport Event Fyn and municipality of Odense, are all very pleased that we have been given the opportunity to host the event.
”It is of great importance for the development of trampoline and tumbling in Denmark that we have been given the chance to host a World Cup where a large number of the international profiles will be represented. We are convinced that our talented trampoline jumpers and tumblers will inspire new talents and increase interest for the sport in Denmark. It is a unique experience to compete at ones home arena why our gymnasts are looking forward to this World Cup in particular”, says Flemming Knudsen, President of the Danish Gymnastics Federation.
Of the Danish trampoline profiles we can mention the experienced Peter Jensen and the talented Daniel Præst, while the young Mikael Nissen is one of our greatest hopes within tumbling.
More gymnastics in Odense
It is not the first time Odense will have to bring out the trampolines and the tumbling lanes. In 2001 Odense hosted the World Championships, in 2006 it was the Nordic Championships and in 2008 they had been given the honour of hosting the European trampoline and tumbling Championships.
”We are looking forward to, once again, being able to welcome some of the worlds best trampoline jumpers and tumblers to Odense. With the experience we have gained from the previous Gymnastics Championships we are confident that we, together with our partners, will deliver a fantastic event experience for the gymnastics as well as for the spectators”, says Stina Willumsen, Chairman Sport event Fyn and Deputy Mayor Odense.
Danish event successes
”The World Cup in the Olympic discipline Trampoline and Tumbling, is the first step in our three-step plan, that has been formed by Sport Event Denmark together with the Danish Gymnastics Federation and Sport Event Fyn. We aim to host the World Championships 2015 and the World Cup 2013”, says Lars Lundov, Director, Sport Event Denmark.
The World Cup will take place in Odense Idrætspark.
