New Team to Run Australian Motor Racing Commission

Two meetings into the year the new look Australian Motor Racing Commission (AMRC) is working well under the guidance of new chairman Mr Chris Hones.
Hones, who has had a long involvement in motor sport in Australia, brings to the AMRC his experience as current Managing Director of a business service company that has been providing consulting services on strategic planning,
corporate risk management and liability analysis.
As chairman of the AMRC, Hones will ensure that the interests of all stakeholders in motor racing are considered fairly and equitably, contribute to the strategic development of motor racing and assist in the ongoing management of the motor racing discipline within the territory of CAMS.
'This is a position that really excites me,' Hones said. 'I have had a close involvement with motor sport through my own racing in Sports Sedans in the 80's, the Australian Porsche Cup in the 90's, as a volunteer official
and also through management of the Australian Racing Drivers Club.'
'I am now looking forward to becoming involved in yet another facet of Australian motor sport and I believe this talented group will facilitate viable development of motor racing.'
Joining Hones as new members of the AMRC in 2003 is Mr Brian Shead, special advisor to the AMRC, along with Mr Robert McDonald and Mr Adrian Chambers. Chambers will also take on the role of Chairman of the Circuit Operators
Advisory Group and McDonald brings a wealth of knowledge from the banking and finance industry.
Other appointments include Graeme Emerton as Chairman of the Regulations Working Group, Lyndon Punshon as Chairman for the Communication - Research and Development Working Group and Peter Nelson in the position of Chairman
of the Officials Working Group.
