ISU Rule Changes: National Seminar, Milan - February 18-20th, 2000

Ice skating - 27 Dec 1999

The ISU has recognized (for the purposes of the Rule 425, paragraph 5 a (ii) and 7d) the following National Seminar: February 18th-20th, 2000 Milan, Italy This seminar is primarily for the Judges and Referees of the Member in the country indicated. However, Judges and Referees of other Members having a need to attend a seminar, may upon application to the Chairperson of the Figure Skating Technical Committee, also attend, subject to the availability of places. These applications must be received at least six (6) weeks prior to the start of this seminar. The seminar will be conducted in English. Clarification for Skaters, Coaches, Referees and Judges Pair Skating Short Program Senior and Junior Group C 1999 - 2000 Senior and Junior a) Hip lift take-off It has been brought to the attention of the Figure Skating Technical Committee that some pairs are not executing the correct hip lift take-off position. Please refer to the Pair Skating Handbook page 47 where it states " The man places his right hand on the lady's left hip and grasps her right hand with his left. The lady's left hand is on the man's right shoulder" The only other hold position that is allowed is a one handed hold by the man with his hand on the lady's hip, which makes the lift take-off more difficult. If an incorrect lift take-off hold is executed in place of the correct lift take-off hold, this error must be penalized as an "unprescribed element". Please refer to ISU Communication 939.
