Information on the Sweden Cup

Wrestling - 19 Jan 2000

Sweden Cup is a yearly recurrent international tournament, organized by The Swedish Wrestling Federation. The tournament is part of the international Grand Prix circus and has been organized for four years in it¦s present form. The first tournament was held in Malm÷ (1995), after that tournaments were held in Lidk÷ping (1996), Gõvle(1997) and Hõssleholm(1998). The city of G÷teborg were supposed to arrange the tournament this year, but they backed out in the last minutes. So in view of that, the Swedish Wrestling Federation made an inquiry to Malm÷ Tigers Wrestling Team, for organizing this years tournament. Due to our regions expansion for the coming years,(the bridge that links Malm÷ with Copenhagen), an agreement has been made between Malm÷ Tigers and the Swedish Wrestling Federation that the tournament will be held in Malm÷ for the next three years. 1999 First year, the tournament is established in Malm÷ 2000 Second year, the "theme" is arround the bridge that will link Malm÷ to Copenhagen 2001 Third year, the tournament will be organized in co-operation Malm÷ and Copenhagen. Malm÷ is therefore guaranteed a top international tournament with the best wrestlers in the world, for the next three years. 20 nations with approximately 200 wrestlers has participated in the previous Sweden Cup games. This years tournament is taking place February 25-27 in the arena "Baltiska Hallen" in Malm÷.
