IEC in Sports Renews Gymnastics Deal

Gymnastics - 14 Jan 2002

IEC in Sports has renewed the Great Four artistic gymnastics contract for another 3+3 years. The final negotiations took place in in Stuttgart this week and the the two German events in Stuttgart and Cottbus are together with Glasgow the platform in the concept.

In 2001 Paris was the fourth leg in the series and for 2002 there are a number of options for the forth event in the series.

'We are very happy to have renewed the Great Four contract, which is a concept we have been developing over the past four years.

'The events have grown from being only domestically recognized to an international audience. On average each of the events have 15 broadcasters accessing the signal', says Jonas Persson, CEO of IEC in Sports.

All the events within the Great Four concept are using the same competition format and there is a common prize money pool. In total there are ten discipines at each of the venues.

Eight athletes are competing in the disciplines and the two front gymnasts are facing a winner`s final adding an extra edge to the events.

The format works very well for television. It is speedy and it is easy to follow, says Jonas Persson
