Gymnastics Judge Dismissed after Errors in Test Event

Gymnastics - 01 Apr 2004

Moutier, April 1, 2004: The Rhythmic Gymnastics Technical Committee issued a 'yellow card' to a member of the FIG Judges Pool for serious errors made during the competitions test at the Galatsi Sports Palace in Athens, March 22 – 24, 2004.

The irrevocable decision was taken by Ms Egle Abruzzini (ITA) and her Committee and excludes the judge from the Olympic Games panel in August of 2004.

It is interesting to point out that since the establishment of a judges pool in Rhythmic Gymnastics in 2001, the quality and credibility of judging have improved drastically and the sanction issued in Athens is proof of the FIG’s determination to protect its integrity and increase the standing of its judges’ difficult task.
