Global Sportnet New Marketing Partner of SL Benfica
The Portuguese record-clinching champions SL Benfica and Hamburg- based football agency Global Sportnet have closed a marketing deal covering the club's television and advertising rights to European Cup matches.
Benfica and Global Sportnet have agreed on a long term cooperation regarding the worldwide marketing of the exclusive television and advertising rights for European Cup matches. The contract guarantees multi-million dollar payments for the 27 times Portuguese champions and is the club's first big scale cooperation with a foreign partner.
Benfica is regarded as one of the most traditional and prestigious clubs on the international scene, with a strong impact on shaping the European Cup competitions from the early beginnings. They are the only club who have continuously played in European Cup competitions since 1960. In 1961 and 1962 Benfica won the European Champions' Cup, succeeding five times winner Real Madrid. Next season Benfica will participate in the revamped Uefa-Cup.
To seize the financial possibilities offered by the sales of television rights at an optimum, Benfica have decided to join forces with Global Sportnet as an experienced marketing partner.
