FIVB Puts Brazilian Broadcasting Rights Out To Tender

Volleyball - 08 Nov 2005

Lausanne, 7 November 2005 – The International Volleyball and Beach Volleyball Federation today published the details of an invitation to tender for the broadcasting rights in one of Volleyball’s most significant markets.

The Federation invites broadcasters to bid for the broadcasting rights (television and radio) for all of the FIVB’s international Volleyball and Beach Volleyball events for the period of 2006-2010. Specifically, this includes the following top-level events:

Volleyball

· FIVB World League (2006-2010)
· FIVB World Grand Prix (2006-2010)
· FIVB 2007 World Cup for men and women
· FIVB 2010 World Championships for men

Beach Volleyball

· FIVB World Tour (2006-2010)
· FIVB men’s and women’s World Championships (2007 and 2009)

Brazilian teams have an unparalleled record in all of the above events. In Volleyball, they are reigning World League, World Grand Prix, World Cup champions and World Champions. Brazil also clearly dominates the young and dynamic sport of Beach Volleyball, currently occupying the top 3 men’s slots and the top 2 women’s slots on the World Tour. The men’s teams won Gold and Silver medals at the Athens 2004 Olympic Games, whilst the women’s teams took Silver and Bronze. Brazil’s men’s and women’s teams also took first and second place respectively at the 2005 World Championships.
Given the huge interest for Volleyball and Beach Volleyball among Brazil’s viewing public, this invitation to tender offers an exciting opportunity to secure coverage of all the world’s major international events and reach out to a large audience in one of the sport’s most important markets.
Interested parties are kindly requested to contact the FIVB TV and Marketing Department (itt_brazil@fivb.org) for further information.
