Fiji to participate in World Cup - Statement from Rugby League World Cup 2000 LtdLtd
Following advice from The Foreign and Commonwealth Office, Rugby League World Cup 2000 Ltd can confirm that Fiji will be able to participate in this autumn's Lincoln Financial Group Rugby League World Cup 2000.
The Commonwealth Ministerial Action Group (CMAG) met in London yesterday to discuss possible sanctions against troubled Fiji but decided that economic and sporting penalties would be inappropriate at this stage.

Operations Director of Rugby League World Cup 2000 Ltd, Jason Harborow said: 'During the last two weeks there has been much speculation regarding the political unrest in Fiji and their participation in the Lincoln Financial Group Rugby League World Cup.
'We have been in constant contact with the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and we are delighted to confirm that Fiji be able to participate in the Lincoln Financial Group Rugby League World Cup this autumn'
'Rugby League World Cup 2000 Ltd have kept the Rugby League International Federation fully informed while we have also been in day-to-day contact with the Fijian Rugby League during their difficult time'
'We will continue to monitor the situation and act on advice from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. We are looking forward to the Fijians joining us in the autumn with their exciting brand of rugby league'
